Content Management (CMS)
Content Managent Systems (CMS) have really changed the whole website game. Only a few years ago the cost of keeping a website up to date was a lot higher. Every small change you wanted to make to the website would involve hiring a web developer to do it for you.
Most online stores needed a full time web developer to manage all the products, and keep things running smoothly. A lot of small businesses couldn't afford the ongoing costs, so that's why you see so many outdated websites floating about the place.
Thankfully times have changed. Having a good Content Management System setup for your website means that anyone with basic computer skills can update your website with ease.
If you can use a basic text editing program like Microsoft Word, then you can use a CMS.
There are a lot of free "one size fits all" CMS's around that a lot of developers like to use. These are very powerful systems that provide the tools to manage every different kind of website you can imagine.
The problem with this is they usually end up being incredibly complicated, and involve trawling through countless features that you have no use for, just to find what you're looking for.
I have used these systems in the past, and it just didn't make it easy enough for my clients to do what they wanted to do.
So to solve this problem I created my own CMS that I custom tailor to each individual client. So you get the exact functionality that you want, in a simple user friendly interface.
